CitySocialising: Media Centre
CARE International and CitySocialising announce new partnership London: Social networking website and events club CitySocialising and leading overseas development agency CARE International UK and are delighted to announce the launch of an exciting partnership, aiming to bring sociable, young London professionals together in support of the charity’s work.Recent research undertaken by CARE International’s in-house Challenge fundraising events team – which has been running a series of record-breaking exciting outdoor Challenge teambuilding events for business professionals for over 12 years - has shown that socially, almost 90% of CARE Challenge participants take part in these events in order to meet new people and have fun with like-minded others, while the same percentage have made new friends through taking part. Nevertheless, the CARE Challenge team recognise that for enthusiastic individual fundraisers, it can sometimes be a challenge in itself getting a team of committed colleagues together to take part in an outdoor fundraising challenge in the first place. Partnering with CitySocialising has offered the perfect solution, since the site already offers an established highly successful portfolio of social and networking events for urban professionals in London and across the UK. CARE Marketing Manager Ilaria Ida, explained: “Well over 50% of our participants live or work in London and the South East, and we’ve discovered that about two thirds of them regularly use social networking websites such as Facebook or MySpace – and mainly to keep in touch or connect with people. CitySocialising sits very well with our own remit of bringing sociable people together for a great cause and having fun at the same time, so it seemed a natural partnership for us. The social networking phenomenon is a fantastic way to connect with like-minded people, and therefore the ideal platform for creating awareness for our events and being part of something special.” CitySocialising founder and Managing Director, Sanchita Saha, added: “We’re delighted to be supporting such a great cause and to provide our members, and those who have found us through CARE, with a fantastic opportunity to fundraise for charity and meet new friends in such an exciting way. Although initially London-based, we’ve recently launched CitySocialising’s highly successful networking format in several other major cities around the UK and we’re looking forward to the prospect of extending our partnership with CARE nationwide.” It is envisaged that the partnership will help CARE Challenge raise over £1m for CARE’s overseas work via their portfolio of 12 tough outdoor events, and to celebrate its launch, CitySocialising will be hosting a series of informal information evenings in London from January, offering the opportunity for people to find out more about CARE Challenge and CARE International, and even sign up to a specific CARE Challenge with other guests on the night. CARE representatives will be on hand to answer questions members might have. The first of these is due to take place on Wednesday 30th January 2008, at Bar Potion in central London. The 2008 CARE Challenge events portfolio, based primarily in the UK and Europe, include the classic 3 Peaks Challenge – a tough 24-hour challenge open to teams of 4-6 walkers tasked with climbing the UK’s 3 highest stand-alone mountains (Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales). Also on offer are their increasingly popular 3 Peaks Challenges in the Republic of Ireland and Spain – the latter aimed at serious mountain bikers, incorporating Europe’s longest mountain bike descent – and the CARE London to Paris Cycle Challenge.
