As a Regular member you can just pay for the Socials you want to attend and if you become a Full member, which means you get to attend as many Socials as you want each month for free, you can cancel your subscription at any time so you're not tied in any longer than you want to be.

Because we’re different. We combine both an online and offline approach to connecting with other like minded people, meeting new social groups in Nottingham & Derby and expanding your social network. So we're about meeting real people in the real world, not just in cyberworld.

Because our Socials are a great way to get to know and to get 'in the know' about Nottingham & Derby. It's a fantastic way to explore the social scene and check out new bars, restaurants, clubs, galleries, gigs and loads of other good stuff happening across the the cities.

Quickly! It's all too easy to register and let a couple of months pass without attending any Socials or events so 'get stuck right in' is the best advice!

Each month there's a New Members night which are always a great opportunity to meet and socialise with some other new members and to find out more about CitySocialising.

But you don't have to wait to attend one of these. You'll be made to feel welcome at all Socials and there is always a regular member there to host the Social who welcome you when you arrive.

Our current members work in a mix of the following professions:

• City and 'high-powered' (40%) - Directors, Doctors, Lawyers, Bankers, etc.
• Creative professions (30%) - Journalists, Media, Marketing, TV & Film, etc.
• Regular professions (25%) - teachers, nurses, sales, computing etc.
• Alternative professions (5%) - firefighters, fitness trainers, life coaches etc.

All in all it’s a great mix but the ‘like minded’ aspect that unites our members is that they're regular, laid-back, sociable, friendly, ‘thinking people’, mostly young professionals in their 20s and 30s.

By ‘thinking people’ we mean that CitySocialisers would be more likely to choose the Times, Guardian, Independent to read, for example, rather than the Sunday Sport. We have quite a few Daily Mail readers and if you read The Sun (for fun), we won't hold it against you ;-)

We'll lay out our stall: CitySocialising is for regular, sociable, intelligent, laid-back people who just want to get to know some new like minded people in Nottingham & Derby, make new friends and contacts and enjoy social days and nights out and discovering new areas, bars, galleries, restaurants, clubs, music venues/gigs etc across Nottingham & Derby.

Anyone submitting an inappropriate personal message is automatically blocked from joining and if they slip through our net we block and remove their profile as soon as we can.

If cancelled, your Full membership status will remain active until the end of your original paid-for subscription period.

If you have booked onto a Social that is due to take place after the end date of your original subscription period you will be able to cancel your subscription in the same way after you have attended that Social. Or you will need to first cancel your place at that Social before cancelling your subscription.

Just email us at support@citysocialising.com and we will cancel your regular membership and remove your profile within seven days.

You’ll need to activate your account via the email we sent you after registration before you can start using the site.

Just log in to the site, go to the Socials & Events section, find the Socials you want to attend, hit the 'Book' button and pay the relevant fee online. Full Members are not required to pay a fee, unless the Social includes eg. A ticket price, entrance fee etc.

Once you’ve booked yourself onto a Social, you’ll receive a confirmation email of your booking.

Make sure you add no-reply@citysocialising.com to your online address book.

Once you've booked your place, the details of the Social, the guestlist and the message board for that Social will be available to view in My Social Diary once you've logged in to the site.

The information for the Social is updated the day before it is due to take place so please ensure you re-check this section before attending.

Post as many messages as you want for free on the Socials message board to say hi and chat to your fellow guests before you meet up at the Social. You have the option to be notified when someone new books onto the same Social and when a new message is left by a fellow guest.

You can send up to three free Quick Notes/messages directly to as many other members as you like to introduce yourself too via your private CitySocialising mailbox.

To continue to send or reply to messages to/from a particular member you will need to become a Full member.

Please ensure you add no-reply@citysocialising.com to your online address book and check the information in your My Socials page as it may have been updated since you booked.

As long as the Social is not already fully booked you’ll have until 2 hours before the start time to book onto it.

As places for Socials are always limited we’d advise you to book as soon as possible.

Our Socials are for up to thirty members each time although our parties attract up to 150 people depending on the venue.

We limit the number of people at each Social as we find that any more than this and it becomes difficult to talk to everyone.

Plus it means our Socials retain the feeling of going out with a group of friends.

To ensure you get to meet a good mix of people through CitySocialising, if less than six members are available to attend then the Social is postponed and a full refund provided to Regular members or the option to transfer to another Social.

Understandably you’ll be nervous about coming along to your first Social but there’s no need. Each Social is hosted by a fellow member who will be expecting you when you arrive to welcome you, introduce you to people and to the service, answer any questions you may have and settle you in so you can relax and have fun.

Plus you can post as many messages as you want for free on the Socials message board to say hi and chat to your fellow guests before you meet up at the Social which should help to put you more at ease too.

Our Socials attract a mix of both new and regular members, a laid-back, friendly and welcoming crowd.

Remember that everyone attending is up for meeting new people too – our Socials are described by new and regular members alike as like going out with a group of friends so you'll feel at home in no time.

Details of how to find the group when you arrive at a Social will be available to view in the listing within My Social Diary.

Most often, a CitySocialising sign will be displayed on the table at the meeting venue or you will need to ask venue staff for the CitySocialising group upon arrival.

All instructions will be provided within your My Social Diary page. Just hit the 'View Info' button where it is listed here.

Please ensure you check this information for updates the day before the Social is due to take place.

If after booking you can no longer attend, select the Social from your My Social Diary page, and click on the Cancel My Place link. You can also post a message to the host and your fellow guests to let them know if you want to.

If you notify us of your cancellation more than 7 days before the Social is due to take place we will refund you the amount paid directly to your account within 14 days or alternatively you will be able to transfer you to another Social of your choice.

If less than 7 days notice is provided, no refund will be provided but CitySocialising will be able to transfer you to another Social to the same fee value.

If less than 24 hours notice of cancellation is provided however, no refund and no transfer will be provided.

If you cancel your place to a Social within 48 hours, a £5 cancellation fee will automatically be charged to your card.

Equally, if you do not cancel your place to a Social and don’t show up, a £5 cancellation fee will automatically be charged to your card.

The majority of people come along to Socials on their own as ours is a warm and welcoming crowd. Plus it’s the best way to ensure you get to talk to and get to know your fellow guests.

However we more than welcome you to bring friends or your partner with you. Just book a place for them online when you book for yourself. Alternatively, you can get them to register and book their place online themselves.

The guestlist for each Social will be available to view within your My Social Diary for 30 days after it has taken place.

Make sure you add the profiles of the people you got on with to your Friends List. That way you can keep in touch and invite them to future Socials you attend.

You can also post messages on the Socials board for up to seven days after the Social has taken place.

Our hosts are just regular CitySocialising members who have volunteered to be the welcoming first point of contact when you arrive, to meet and greet you, put you at ease, make a few introductions and answer any questions you have.

This will take you through step by step to create your own events, and invite others to attend.

All members can create events, and attend any events they’ve created of course. However, only Full Members can RSVP to and attend all member-organised events, and only Full Members can create Private events for people on their Friends List only.

Upon creating an event, all members can manage their own guestlists and, if required, can cancel the event and auto-notify all attendees.

Friends List is a place for you to bookmark the profiles of the CitySocialising members you’d like to keep in touch with. Whether it's those you've connected online with or people you've met and got on with at a Social.

You can then send them messages from here to arrange to meet at another Social and you can also invite them to attend other Socials you’ve booked onto.

Plus, you can see which of your Friends are currently online.

Full Members can see which events they’re Friends are planning on attending.

Your Friends List is kept completely confidential.

If you do not want to receive messages to your private CitySocialising mailbox from another member you can block that member from contacting you.

Blocking a member does not send a notification to the user that they've been blocked from contacting you.

Use our Search For Friends feature to search for others that live or work near you. Everyone can send all members up to three free Quick Notes to say hi and introduce yourself.

Plus you can join the relevant group in the 'Where you live/work group boards' for free. You can post a free message to the whole group, discuss topics and organise your own social days and nights out in Nottingham & Derby.

Use the Tags field in our Search For Friends feature to find others that share something specific in common.

For example, typing in the words 'Salsa, Manchester' will list all CitySocialising Nottingham & Derby members who have added one or more of these words to their keywords.

Plus, go to the Interest Groups section and join all the groups that relate to you and your interests to connect with others into the same.

You can then send up to three free Quick Notes to all Nottingham & Derby members via your private CitySocialising mailbox to say hi and introduce yourself.

(a) If 24 hours before the Social is due to take place, less than 6 people have registered to attend, you will be informed up to 12 hours before the Social and CitySocialising will give you the option to transfer to another Social of the same fee value, or to receive a refund of the fee paid within 14 days.

(b) If you cannot attend a Social that you have booked your place on, and only if, you provide CitySocialising with your notice of cancellation more than 7 days before the Social is due to take place, you will be provided with a 100% refund within 14 days or the option to transfer onto another Social to the same fee value or less, with the difference being refunded within 14 days.

(c) If you cannot attend a Social that you have booked your place on, and notice of cancellation is provided between 48 hours and 7 days in advance, no refund will be provided but it will be at CitySocialising’s discretion to transfer you onto an alternative Social to the same fee value or less.

(d) If you are no longer able to attend a Social and do not cancel your place, a £5 "Non-cancellation charge" will be made to your card.

(e) Additionally, if you cancel your place to the Social less than 48 hours before it is due to take place, a £5 "Late-cancellation charge" will be made to your card.

So that you can enjoy an uninterrupted service, when you subscribe to Full membership we will automatically renew your membership once the original paid-for subscription period has ended.

You can cancel your subscription at any time so you're not tied in for longer than you want to be. Just login, visit the Full Membership page (link at bottom of the site), click on the 'Manage my Subscription' button and then 'Cancel My Subscription'. Your Full membership status will continue until the end of paid-for subscription period.
